Dr Howard Stoate has condemned Kent Highways Service (KHS) and the Thames Water contractor, Skanska, for their failure to ensure that road works being carried out along Hythe Street have been completed.

Following a number of complaints from members of the public, Dr Stoate contacted KHS to ask for an explanation as to why the delays were occurring, and when the works would be completed.  A written response was received from KHS with the author confirming that “I have been assured that the works on the roundabout will be completed and the site cleared by 5th May…”

Dr Stoate said, “I am quite simply furious about this issue.  As both the MP and a local resident I cannot believe that these works are still continuing.  They have caused misery to drivers, and particularly to people living in and around Burnham Road, many of whom have contacted me to express their frustrations.

“I am even more angered as I have a written promise from Kent suggesting that they were doing everything possible to ensure that the road works would be completed.  I have now contacted KHS again and demanded urgent action, and reasons why everyone has failed to do as they have promised.”
