All Party Group on Pneumococcal Disease Prevention in the Developing World

Pneuomococcal Disease is one of the leading causes of child mortality across the globe.  Pneumococcal Disease is the single greatest cause of childhood pneumonia and is thought to be responsible for the deaths of 1.6million people annually, of whom around one million are children.  Vaccination of these children could massively reduce this figure.

The aim of this Group is to reduce the huge numbers of people which are killed by this disease each year.  In order to achieve this the Group seeks to raise the profile of the disease amongst Members of Parliament and the general public.

Dr Stoate is Treasurer of the All Party Group on Pneumococcal Disease Prevention.
