MP welcomes Government grant to Ellenor Foundation Dartford MP, Dr Howard Stoate, has welcomed the announcement this week by the Department of Health that it has given the Ellenor Foundation in Dartford a grant of £144,370. The grant comes from the Government’s £50 million Dignity in Care fund which is aimed at improving hospice facilities throughout the country. The Ellenor will be using the grant to refurbish the entire ground floor of its centre in Dartford. Commenting on the announcement Dr Stoate said; “the Ellenor Foundation provides an invaluable service in our community. It gives care and support each year to dozens of children and adults living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses, looking after both their social and emotional needs as well as their medical needs. I’m delighted therefore that the Ellenor’s funding application has been approved. This will enable the Foundation to make further improvements to the already excellent service that it offers to patients in our area.” Health Minister Rosie Winterton said; “The Ellenor Foundation is a highly valued part of the local community, and this grant is made in recognition of the vital service that it offers to patients and their families. The project funded by this grant will significantly improve the service offered to future patients. However, these developments will benefit not only patients, but also their families and carers and staff alike.” |
