National Markets Week, which has been organised by the All Party Group on the Markets Industry, is designed to highlight the importance of indoor and outdoor markets - such as Dartford market -  in strengthening communities and providing cheap and healthy food.

Dr Stoate said: “I’m delighted to support National Markets Week and the vital contribution that market traders, such as those at Dartford market, make to our town centres.”

“Dartford Market is one of Dartford town centre’s greatest assets. Not only does it make our town centre more vibrant and colourful, it is a great source of cheap healthy local food – which is often much less expensive than that on offer in the supermarket. It also benefits the environment by contributing to a reduction in “food miles” and unnecessary and wasteful packaging of food.”
