MP welcomes school funding boost
Dartford MP, Dr Howard Stoate, has welcomed the announcement this week by the Government of a new £6.5 Million capital funding programme for schools in Kent.

Kent County Council is one of 23 ‘pathfinder’ local authorities around the country to receive funding in 2008-09 from the Government’s new primary capital programme. Amongst the schools in Kent to benefit from the scheme will be Oakfield Infant and Nursery School in Dartford and Swanscombe Infant and Nursery/Sweyne Junior School in Swanscombe.

The £7 billion programme, which is to be rolled out across the rest of the country in April 2009, aims to rebuild or revamp 8,000 of England’s 18,000 primary schools over a 15 year period.
Dr Stoate said; “this is very news for Dartford and for local children. This extra cash will make a significant difference to these schools by helping to modernise and improve their facilities and ensure that they are fully equipped for 21st century learning.”
