MP promotes healthy foods on visit to Acorns nursery Dartford MP, Dr Howard Stoate, visited the Acorns Early Years Centre in Dykewood Close in Joydens Wood today to help the children prepare a healthy snack.
“I welcome this opportunity to help my local pre-school to prepare a healthy snack. Helping children develop good nutritional habits at an early age is essential if they are stay fit and healthy throughout their lives. By eating healthily - and also drinking water regularly – children are also able to concentrate more effectively in the classroom and thereby give themselves the best possible chance of success in school,” said Dr Stoate.
Nursery Manager Anne Cudd said; “we are always preparing healthy snacks and proud to be part of the Pre-school Learning Alliance’s Feeding Young Imaginations campaign. It was good to have our local MP in to help us prepare food with the children.”
The visit was one of many around the country organized by the pre-school learning alliance aimed at promoting the benefits of healthy eating in the under 5 age group. The event is part of a wider campaign by the PSLA called Feeding Young Imaginations. The campaign is seeking to ensure that all young children get the best possible start in life – working in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation , to provide practical nutritional support for early years settings and parents of young children. |
