MP opposes plan to reduce station opening hours
Dr Stoate, who has received a string of complaints from local residents, has now written to the company to urge them to rethink their plans.

“These cuts are completely unacceptable. Local residents have a high regard for the work of the staff at the station and having recently been asked to pay an increase in their fares are not prepared to accept this kind of reduction in the service to them,” said Dr Stoate.

“Not only will this make it far more difficult for them to buy and renew tickets but it will also become harder for staff to maintain the station effectively. It will make the station more vulnerable to vandals and graffiti sprayers and make it more difficult for staff to respond to problems as and when they occur.”

“This is an important service not just for passengers but for the community as whole and I feel that it would be grave mistake to proceed with this proposal.”
